The prospect of living in Zimbabwe is something of a gamble at the moment, so you could think that there might be little affinity for going to Zimbabwe’s gambling dens. In fact, it seems to be operating the other way around, with the awful economic conditions leading to a larger ambition to play, to attempt to locate a quick win, a way from the crisis.

For many of the people living on the abysmal local money, there are two common types of wagering, the state lotto and Zimbet. Just as with practically everywhere else on the planet, there is a state lotto where the chances of hitting are remarkably tiny, but then the prizes are also extremely high. It’s been said by market analysts who understand the situation that most don’t purchase a ticket with an actual expectation of winning. Zimbet is based on either the local or the British football leagues and involves determining the results of future matches.

Zimbabwe’s gambling halls, on the other hand, pamper the considerably rich of the country and vacationers. Until recently, there was a incredibly big tourist industry, centered on safaris and trips to Victoria Falls. The economic anxiety and associated crime have cut into this trade.

Amongst Zimbabwe’s casinos, there are two in the capital, Harare, the Carribea Bay Resort and Casino, which has five gaming tables and slots, and the Plumtree Casino, which has only slot machines. The Zambesi Valley Hotel and Entertainment Center in Kariba also has just one armed bandits. Mutare has the Monclair Hotel and Casino and the Leopard Rock Hotel and Casino, both of which offer table games, slots and electronic poker machines, and Victoria Falls has the Elephant Hills Hotel and Casino and the Makasa Sun Hotel and Casino, the pair of which have gaming machines and tables.

In addition to Zimbabwe’s gambling dens and the aforestated talked about lottery and Zimbet (which is very like a parimutuel betting system), there are a total of 2 horse racing complexes in the state: the Matabeleland Turf Club in Bulawayo (the second municipality) and the Borrowdale Park in Harare.

Seeing as that the economy has deflated by beyond 40 percent in the past few years and with the associated poverty and crime that has come to pass, it isn’t understood how healthy the vacationing industry which funds Zimbabwe’s gambling halls will do in the next few years. How many of the casinos will survive till things improve is basically not known.
